Cassina Brussels: ART&DESIGN 2012
Cassina Brussels: ART & DESIGN event
24th May – 30th June 2012
Cassina flagship store, Avenue Louise 154, Brussels
23rd May 2012. Art and Design. The gesture of the designer like the gesture of an artist, their hand, a sketch, an idea. The authenticity of a project is an ever innovative process of thought, insight and research, which Cassina identifies and values starting from the original creative heart, combining its qualitative excellence with consolidated workmanship experience.
This perspective is the starting point for the 2012 Collection on show internationally for the first time at the Cassina flagship store in Brussels from the 24th of May until the 30th June: a series of projects that express a way of thinking and living design and the special bond that they have with the art world.
After its debut during the design week in Milan, the first complete reconstruction of the mountain shelter Refuge Tonneau designed by Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret in 1938 will be on show.
Thanks to Cassina’s authentic reconstruction, this masterpiece of mobile architecture, a futuristic space shuttle-refuge for extreme weather conditions, will be open to the Belgian public who will be able to enter and discover the ingeniously detailed organisation of the wood interiors.
This project was made possible thanks to the passionate research that Cassina carried out on the original sketches, drawings and notes of the two authors, working in close collaboration with the daughter and sole heir of Charlotte Perriand, Pernette Perriand-Barsac.
