LC50, Corbu strikes again with a series of small icons, a limited edition and new finishes

Cassina’s initiatives for the 50th anniversary of the LC Collection (Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand) continue with new works by this great master of architecture who passed away 50 years ago.

Miniatures of the icons that have shaped the history of design enter the Cassina collection
The manufacture rights of the miniature models by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand now belong to Cassina’s exclusive production.
For the occasion the brand presents four pieces in scale 1:6 which correspond to the research conducted on the collection in collaboration with the Fondation Le Corbusier and the heirs of the co-authors. The miniatures of the LC1 small armchair, the LC2 armchair, the LC4 chaise-longue and the LC7 small swivel armchair are therefore produced with the authentic distinctive colours and the same leathers of the full scale models.
An immense work of precision and attention to detail carried out by Italian craftsmen: a true miniaturization of the Cassina originals.

90 limited edition iconic armchairs: LC2 Maison La Roche
The LC2 Maison La Roche armchair by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand was designed in 1928 and chosen for the home of Le Corbusier’s friend the Swiss banker Raoul La Roche.
The modern architecture of this Parisian building, designed with Pierre Jeanneret, was studied to host his art collection. Today Maison La Roche and Maison Jeanneret (the adjacent building) are respectively a museum open to the public and the headquarters of the Fondation Le Corbusier.
The LC2 Maison La Roche is one of the first prototypes of the armchair and, compared to the standard version, concentrates in particular on the strong contrast between the materials which emphasize the softness of the cushions.
The armchair, with a brown frame, is upholstered in soft tobacco coloured leather and padded with feathers giving it an incredibly fluffy aspect.
Each piece is authenticated with both its progressive limited edition number and serial production number, as well as the signatures of the authors and the Cassina I Maestri logo which underlines that Cassina is the only authorised company to produce this furniture.

This version is available in only 90 pieces to celebrate the 90 years since Maison La Roche was built (1923-25). This anniversary is also remembered in the exhibition “Re-Corbusier”, organised by the Fondation Le Corbusier with the support of Cassina, which opened on the 1st of April 2015 at Maison La Roche itself. The exhibit, which showcases a selection of works (paintings, sculptures, installations) which play with the cardinal theories of Le Corbusier’s work, is a new opportunity to bring art back to this building.

The LC6 table, always looking for new finishes
Experimentation with materials and colour has always been a recurring theme for Le Corbusier, Jeanneret and Perriand. Respecting this standpoint, the LC6 table, designed for the Salon d’Automne in 1929, has today been launched with new finishes.
The table top is now available in white Carrara marble combined with a black or ivory frame, or finished in black with the innovative soft touch product and combined with a matching black frame.
Coupled with the glass this treatment provides both technical and sensory features making the top more resistant and pleasing to the touch.

Measurements: 225x85xh.74cm.

Materials:
top in white Carrara marble, frame painted black or ivory
top in extra-light clear glass, thickness 15mm, lacquered black with the application of the soft
touch treatment, frame painted black.
