Cassina protagonist at Das Haus by Luca Nichetto - Guest of Honour at imm cologne
As well as the his projects designed for Cassina, Luca Nichetto has also chosen various Cassina models for his Das Haus living environment which particularly focuses on sustainability and nature. The Venetian designer’s choice of products best exemplifies Cassina’s time-honored mastery of carpentry which lies in an innovative fusion of technological skill and traditional craftsmanship. The central living room that Luca Nichetto defines as ‘the beating heart of the home’, is an eco-friendly container that features the teak version of the Tokyo Outdoor chaise-longue by Charlotte Perriand, conceived in Tokyo in 1940 as a re-interpretation in bamboo of the renowned LC4, and the natural oak Tabouret Mèribel stools, an elegant stylization of the traditional milking stool. Franco Albini’s legendary Veliero is also presented in natural ash-wood: a bold challenge to the notions of balance and gravity, this experimental bookcase was brought to life and made functional and stable thanks to the complex technological research carried out by Cassina in collaboration with the Albini Foundation, design historians and marine and civil engineering experts. Amongst the other organic forms presented at Das Haus the iconic 699 Superleggera chair by Gio Ponti and the Nuvola Rossa bookcase in beech-wood by Vico Magistretti.
