  1. What cookies are and which cookie categories are used on this Website

Cookies are small strings of text that the visited website sends to the user’s terminal (e.g. computer, smartphone, tablet), where they are stored to be sent back to the same website the next time the same user visits the website.

The cookies used on this Website can be distinguished by virtue of the following criteria:

a) based on who manages the cookies::

(i) proprietary or first-party cookies: these are cookies that the Data Controller installs directly through the Website;

(ii) third-party cookies: these are cookies that parties other than Us install through the Website;

b) based on the time during which they remain enabled:

(i) session cookies: these cookies preserve the information necessary during the navigation session and are deleted right after the session expires, i.e. when the browser is closed;

(ii) persistent cookies: these cookies are stored on the user’s hard disk and the Website reads them each time that the user returns to visit. A persistent cookie has a fixed expiration date, after which it will stop working.

c) based on the purposes:

some cookies are necessary to allow the user to navigate the Website and to use its functions (technical cookies). Others are used to obtain statistical information, in aggregated and non-aggregated form, on the number of users who access the Website and on how the Website is used (analytics cookies). Others yet are used to track a user’s profile in order to display to them advertisements on the Website that might be in line with their interests since they are consistent with their tastes and consumer habits (profiling cookies).

Technical cookies, analytics cookies and profiling cookies are used on the Website.

The user can decide at any time to prevent all or part of the installation of the cookies by changing the settings of the browser used. The configuration of each browser is different, and is described in the “Guide” menu of the browser. To understand how to set the cookie settings, the user can consult the instructions provided by the most popular navigation browser producers, available at the following links:

Google Chrome
Mozilla Firefox
Internet Explorer
Opera
Safari

  1. Cookies used on the Website
  2. Technical cookies

Technical cookies are those that the Data Controller uses only in order to allow the user to visit the Website and to be able to use it. They can be further divided into:

(i) navigation cookies: they guarantee normal Website navigation and use and allow, for example, a purchase to be made or authentication to be executed to access reserved areas. These are usually session cookies that are automatically eliminated when the navigation browser is closed;

(ii) functional cookies: they allow the user to navigate based on a set of selected criteria (e.g. language or country of origin) in order to improve the service provided on the Website. These are persistent cookies that remain in the computer being used even after the navigation browser is closed, until the expiration date fixed for each cookie (usually from two months to two years) or until when the user has deleted them.

Technical cookies are not used for purposes other than those stated above.

The following technical cookies are currently used on the Website:

The user can disable the proprietary and third-party technical cookies by changing the settings of the browser used. However, it is necessary to bear in mind that some or all websites visited by the user (or their functions) might not function correctly or effectively if these cookies are eliminated or blocked.

  • Analytics cookies

We do not directly install the analytics cookies of this Website. They are installed by third parties and are used to obtain statistical information, in aggregated and non-aggregated form, on the number of users who access the Website and on how they visit the Website.

The following third-party analytics cookies are installed on the Website without the user’s prior consent because they are less invasive in so far as they are made anonymous, and the third parties cannot access separated analytics data at the IP address level (in other words, by using these cookies the third parties cannot trace the user’s identity) and the third parties cannot cross-reference the data obtained through cookies with data already in their possession:

The user is free to block installation of the analytics cookies at any time without jeopardising the possibility to visit the Website and use its contents. For more information, carefully read the reports on third-party cookies following the links provided in the table above.

  • Profiling cookies

Profiling cookies are used to create a user profile based on their preferences and interests, as they have shown while navigating on the Internet, and to display to the user advertising messages on the Website that are most interesting for the user.

As established by the privacy legislation in force, the user’s prior consent is required to install these cookies. This is why when the user accesses the Website a special banner informing them that (i) profiling cookies are used on the Site and (ii) they can consent to installation of the cookies by clicking a specific button inside the banner is displayed. If the user should provide their consent to installation of the cookies in this manner, We will keep track of the consent using a special technical cookie. In this way we will avoid displaying the banner on cookies to the user when they visit the Website afterwards.

The user is free to block installation of the profiling cookies at any time without jeopardising the possibility to visit the Website and use its contents. However, if the user decides to disable these cookies, this does not mean that they will no longer see advertising on the Website, but that the banners they will see might not be in line with their interests or preferences.

All profiling cookies are installed by third parties that act in the capacity of autonomous data controllers (third-party cookies). Here is a list of the third-party profiling cookies currently used on the Website, with the link to the report pages created by their developers indicated:
