Cassina Contract for the new Hotel Gallia in Milan

An important renovation project that unites both the past and the future, at the very heart of the
capital of design.

Cassina Contract and the renowned Italian architect and designer Marco Piva collaborate on a new restoration and expansion project for the Hotel Excelsior Gallia in Milan. Cassina Contract, involved in the development of the interior design of this large and highly prestigious assignment, will create custom-made furnishings in a fully inclusive turn-key project worth more than 10mln Euros.

The project will take shape in the central Piazza Duca d’Aosta square which has been redeveloped after the recent transformation of the Central Station area. The hotel, built in the 1930s and extended in the 1960s, will return it to its former splendour thanks to attentive restoration and integration that will be carried out by the company. The past will meet the present in a setting that links the modern lightness of a glass and steel curtain wall to the more solid, monumental style of the historic Gallia. The concept is to convey the Milan ethos where great attention is paid to stimulating style, fashion and

The Cassina Contract team was called on to interpret Marco Piva’s concept in the complex development of the interior areas. With a consolidated history in interior design for the hospitality sector in which it has been operating since 1950, Cassina Contract completely shares the underlying philosophy of the project. Valuable conservation work in an important historic building, reinterpreted with a modern twist. Cassina Contract is particularly enthusiastic to take part in refashioning the interiors using its hallmark essential elegance and sophisticated modern style, which will emphasize the dynamic
atmosphere that thrives in the Milanese metropolis.

An ambitious plan has also been studied for the diverse types of hotel rooms, 235 in all. 30 different types of standard rooms and 11 different interpretations of the 47 suites. Five of these are inspired by the apartments of historical Milanese designers, an interior design that deliberately encompasses various events and situations. A huge challenge that Cassina Contract is more than capable of meeting thanks to its proven experience on an international level and to its ability to cover all aspects of the project, from the design and selection of materials to the production and assembly of the project, guaranteeing a high quality turn-key service. The collaboration with Cassina Contract will ensure a high level of quality throughout the hotel, from the communal areas to each room, inspiring the hotel guests with a range of sensory experiences through materials, scenography and comfort, encouraging them to interact with the city and the world”.
