CONTEMPORARY INSPIRATION

A modular, family-friendly design armchair, extremely comfortable with a generous, welcoming seat. The Fiandra, a re-edition of the historical model, designed by Vico Magistretti for Cassina in 1975, features more generous shapes and a lower seat to respond to the necessities of current lifestyles. The 2025 edition is also characterised by an increasingly circular approach.

PRODUCTION YEAR

1975/2025

Fiandra is an inviting modular sofa, extremely comfortable, with a generous seat, designed for relaxing and spending time together. The re-edition of the historical model, designed by Vico Magistretti for Cassina in 1975, features more generous shapes and a lower seat that better responds to today’s necessities, while keeping the iconic shape of the feet visible.

The focus of the project is still driven by the desire to eliminate the superfluous through construction that excludes any unnecessary materials. The wooden panels and their metal supports are replaced, and the co-moulded seat frame is eliminated to create a single structure in powder-coated steel that supports the webbed platform upon which the cushions with varying density levels – in polyurethane foam with a percentage of polyols from biological sources or recycled – are held in position by the interior lining and fabric slipcover. The modules are joined by a metal plate, with snap buttons located under the platform, which attaches without overturning the sofa.
