La Basilica

Design Mario Bellini

Office architecture

A table, offspring of a concept developed in the 1970s by Mario Bellini with his Libro dell’Arredamento, where the architect reflected upon his design approach based on the primary uses of furniture. Each piece can be re-imagined by interpreting its traditional shape in many versions, based on the type of use, materials and finishes.

As with other works by Mario Bellini during the same period, La Basilica is a tribute to the key structures of the history of architecture, the result of an approach that led to a system of complete solutions to meet all the needs of an office setting.

In this ideal office table, Mario Bellini celebrates the extremely close relationship between furniture design and architecture, reflected in the use of pillar-like supports that, at the same time, demonstrate Cassina’s superior cabinetmaking skills.
