THE QUINTESSENTIAL CHAISE LONGUE

Iconic, innovative, timeless. Archetype of the chaise longue, designed in 1928 and exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in Paris in 1929, it embodies the relationship between form and function in the balance achieved between geometric purity and comfort.

Starting with the analysis of lounge chairs and the proportions inferred by Le Corbusier with the Modulor, it embodies the concept of comfort in the shape of the seat, which is modelled on the natural contours of the body.

Following the great success of the limited edition for the Collection’s 60th anniversary, the iconic design armchair joins the catalogue in a free-standing leather version, available in all Cassina collection colours.

The saddle leather is fitted to the metal structure and attached with springs, an aesthetic detail that blends elegance and functionality. Available with a black base and a chrome or matte black cradle, this version combines timeless design with immediate comfort, making the chaise longue even more desirable.

I CONTEMPORANEI

Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand

In 1922, Le Corbusier began working in the new rue de Sèvres, Paris, atelier with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret with whom he shared research projects and design criteria in a profound and life-long professional relationship. In October 1927, the pair decided to draw on the contribution of a young architect who had already begun to establish a reputation on the architectural scene of the time: Charlotte Perriand. Their collaboration lasted through to 1937 and was extremely fruitful, especially in the field of furniture design.
