UNIT OF LIGHT

A collection of modular metal lamps in which the base unit alludes to the shape of a brick. A simple lighting system that, depending on the combination of elements, can be used to create table and pendant light compositions.

The two metal finishes and the different colours of the cord for the pendant version offer an additional customisation option.

The brick symbolises the basic element for human constructions and is one of the most primitive and common modular products. This base unit becomes the building block for an iconic, simple lighting system, the Tsai Light. “What I needed to do was design a unit with the iconic shape of a brick that would represent Cassina, without deconstructing its shape too much, to give it good lighting properties, while also developing a way to combine them to create a collection of lamps that could be continuously expanded,” explains the designer Mario Tsai.

The family includes three table lamps and two pendant lamps in different sizes and shapes, all available in two finishes, tumbled aluminium and painted champagne colour, which tell the project’s story through its numerous variations. A cord in coloured fabric embellishes the pendant lamp.
