A unique, authentic and timeless style that has written its own chapter in design history, deservedly becoming a global icon. Designed for ease of conversation, the armchair was exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in  Paris in 1929, as the archetype of the modern concept of furnishings, interpreted by its authors as “household equipment”. The separation between the metal frame and the cushions is consistent with the principles of Rationalism, just as the separation between the parts is based on an industrial approach to production, reminiscent of the architectural relationship between the loadbearing structure in concrete and the in-fill paneling. The balance between form and function is informed by an in-depth study of human posture and the use of the Modulor, a system that measures typical human body proportions, and on a mathematical language tied to the proportions of universal harmony. The quintessential solution to modern furnishings in lounge and lobby areas and executive offices.

Certification: GREENGUARD; BIFMA.

Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand

In 1922, Le Corbusier began working in the new rue de Sèvres, Paris, atelier with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret with whom he shared research projects and design criteria in a profound and life-long professional relationship. In October 1927, the pair decided to draw on the contribution of a young architect who had already begun to establish a reputation on the architectural scene of the time: Charlotte Perriand. Their collaboration lasted through to 1937 and was extremely fruitful, especially in the field of furniture design.
