PRODUCTION YEAR

1959

The Banquette Mauritanie, with its sophisticated, timeless design, is among the furnishings designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1959 for the homes of the managers and staff of the “Miferma” mining company in the city of Cansado, on the Atlantic coast of Mauritania. Composed of magnificent wood lattice attached to an elegant metal base, the bench can be used without cushions to accentuate its long, lean structure. With a single two- or three-seat cushion placed at the centre or along the sides of the bench, it invites various interpretations of use. Or, backrest cushions can be added that are attached to the seat in such a way as to allow them and the upholstery to be easily removed. Furthermore, to best respond to contemporary needs, the bench can be equipped with integrated USB sockets (type A and C). As with all of the items in the Cassina iMaestri Collection, each piece is authenticated by the collection logo, Charlotte Perriand’s signature and by a serial number that matches its ID card.
