PRODUCTION YEAR

1928/1965-2025

In honour of the 60th anniversary of the Le Corbusier®, Pierre Jeanneret®, Charlotte Perriand® Collection, Cassina presents a version of the 3 Fauteuil Grand Confort, grand modèle, durable armchair crafted in collaboration with the historic Kiton Italian luxury tailoring brand.

The armchair pays tribute to colour, drawing inspiration from the models designed in 1928 for Villa Church, a residence near Paris designed by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. For this home, the architects, with Charlotte Perriand, conducted an in-depth study of the use of colour as an essential element in defining the harmony of a space.

They also explored combinations of colours that would enhance the interaction between furniture, setting and users. The limited edition, available in two two-tone variations (blue and bordeaux), each produced in just 60 pieces, is distinguished by its exclusive velvet-touch cashmere upholstery – crafted at Kiton’s Biella woolen mill – especially prized for its purity, softness and the compactness of the fibres, processed using a traditional artisanal carding technique.

Over time, the natural all-cashmere fabric may develop slight surface changes that indicate the precious and authentic origin of the material and should not be considered defects.

I MAESTRI

Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand

In 1922, Le Corbusier began working in the new rue de Sèvres, Paris, atelier with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret with whom he shared research projects and design criteria in a profound and life-long professional relationship. In October 1927, the pair decided to draw on the contribution of a young architect who had already begun to establish a reputation on the architectural scene of the time: Charlotte Perriand. Their collaboration lasted through to 1937 and was extremely fruitful, especially in the field of furniture design.
