POETIC GEOMETRIES

A skilful interplay of shapes and weights is distilled into a simple shape that welcomes and includes, thanks to its balanced proportions and the round top. Designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1975, this design table is reintroduced by Cassina in two versions with updated dimensions and finishes.

Its surface appears three-dimensional and textured, drawing inspiration from the plasterworks designed by architect Scarpa for his private residential projects.

PRODUCTION YEAR

2025

An architecture distilled into a table, thanks to the masterful use of geometry (the circle and rectangle that chase one another, straight lines alongside curves, parallels paired with perpendiculars, subtractions and connections) and to the dimensions of the weights, a play on the unexpected.

Cassina re-edits the table designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1975, with the tabletop in the original round shape, as well as a version with a rectangular top, in various dimensions. For the round table, the base has a black powder-coat finish with elegant embossing and top in tempered glass.

The rectangular table, with a more pronounced sculptural aspect, comes with two different bases. The structural wood core of the tabletop is covered with a layer of plaster, modelled by hand with a spatula to cut parallel lines into it that cover the entire surface. Once the plaster has dried, a coat of metal powder is applied, in Bronze, Brass or Titanium colour; the same finish is also applied to the bases. Drawing inspiration from the plasterworks designed by architect Scarpa for his private residential projects, the surface of the tabletop appears three-dimensional and textured.
