ME FROM OUTSIDE: PIETRO TERZINI X CASSINA

Italian artist Pietro Terzini designs his first product, the ME FROM OUTSIDE mirror collection for Cassina. The project is revealed during Milan Design Week in the Cassina Store Milan where a striking installation has been staged in a room full of mirrors. Here, the reflection of each mirror is infinitely amplified, encouraging visitors to post their photo on social media, thus becoming a medium to vehicle Terzini's vision.
Well-known for his works that, through bold handwritten phrases, provoke us to interact and reflect, Terzini shapes a visual narrative through this project, stimulating reflection on ourselves and the society in which we live. Characterised by a contemporary aesthetic, ME FROM OUTSIDE is a large oval mirror, screen-printed with three messages.
The first model ‘We see what we want to see’, part of the Details catalogue of accessories, emphasises how what we see is often altered by our own perception of ourselves; our inner truth is therefore often filtered by what we choose to see and what we decide to reveal.
The other two models are limited-editions available in 100 pieces for each message: the first highlights the theme of self-love with the phrase ‘I love you’ and the second, with ‘Sometimes I lie’, reminds us that the mirror can lie as first appearances are not always what they seem, just like it is so easy to lie to ourselves when we want to hide from the truth.
