Doge

Design Carlo Scarpa

ULTRARATIONAL EMBLEM

A sculptural structure that has become an emblem of Italian design, a trademark of the new ultrarational movement that in the late 1960s contemplated throwing off the restrictions of Rationalism by returning to traditional aesthetic values.

With the Doge table, Carlo Scarpa takes an innovative approach to shapes and sizes, oriented toward an image of strength and character and facilitated by the author’s extraordinary ability to combine materials of different scale.
