THE CORNARO ARMCHAIR WINS A WALLPAPER* DESIGN AWARD 2025

Cassina has won a Wallpaper* Design Award for the Cornaro armchair, awarded ‘Best Design’ in the annual selection of the prestigious international magazine.

Designed in 1973, Cornaro stands out for its evocative design, highlighted by a unique material and structural contrast in which the geometric rigour of the base embraces its soft seat.

The upholstered cushions that give the backrest, seat and armrests their enveloping shape, are set within a majestic and sculptural wooden frame.

While Cornaro preserves the emblematic aesthetic of the 1970s model, its proportions have been updated thanks to in-depth research and development carried out in close collaboration with Tobia Scarpa, increasing its height and depth to better meet the needs of younger generations with a more ample and comfortable seat.

Confirming Cassina’s commitment to adopt an approach oriented towards greater sustainability, special attention has also been given to the use of innovative materials to reinterpret the model, making it more actual than ever. In addition to recycled polyester fibre, the comfortable cushions contain elements made of polyurethane with a percentage of polyols derived from biological sources and CIRCULARREFOAM®, a polyurethane with a percentage of recycled polyols. With a view to circularity, Cornaro has no glued parts and is therefore completely disassemblable.
