STAGING MODERNITY RECEIVES A FUORISALONE AWARD 2025

For the fourth edition of the Fuorisalone Award, Cassina has been commended with a Media Partners special mention for its installation and theatrical performance Staging Modernity.

Curated by Formafantasma, Staging Modernity was conceived to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Le Corbusier®, Pierre Jeanneret®, Charlotte Perriand® Collection edited by Cassina.

The Teatro Lirico Giorgio Gaber was the stage for a thoughtful and provocative interpretation of the legacy of Modernism with a critical tribute to the groundbreaking vision of Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand through reflection and new interpretations of modernity.

Starting from the original floor plan of the Salon d'Automne, a milestone in the history of modern architecture, the installation presented a deconstruction of its elements in a space populated by animal reproductions, breaking down the divide between what is considered ‘human’ and ‘non-human’, between the modern and the wild.

An integral part of the installation, Fabio Cherstich directed professional actors who interpreted three texts commissioned to philosopher Emanuele Coccia, architect, writer and curator Andrés Jaque and architect and artist Feifei Zhou (terriStories). The performance brought to life and amplified the evolution of the ideological and material implications of modernity and nature today.
