In conjunction with the 2021 edition of the Biennale, Venice is the backdrop for the renowned Refuge Tonneau thanks to the collaboration with the Fondation Wilmotte. The objective of the foundation is to help raise awareness of the importance of architecture through the organisation of international competitions for young talents and the promotion of cultural initiatives at its suggestive Venetian location.
Designed by Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret in 1938, the reconstruction of this mountain refuge was carried out for the first time by Cassina in 2012. The exhibition represents an extraordinary opportunity to admire this pioneering masterpiece already protagonist of important initiatives organised by institutions such as the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in London, the Die Neue Sammlung museum in Munich, the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation in Milan and the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.
