Revived from the Cassina archive and developed for outdoor use in collaboration with Studio Pesce, Dalila recovers two of the three models designed in 1980, reinterpreting them according to the needs of outdoor spaces while preserving their formal identity.
Inspired by the famous biblical passage of Samson and Dalila, this armchair designed by Gaetano Pesce was created as a manifesto object and has a profound artistic value. The project expresses the designer's desire to transfer the uniqueness of the work of art to industrial production through the creation of “serial objects that are as different as men are different”, similar but not identical. This vision challenged the norms of the industry at the time, and Cassina had the foresight to embrace it, giving shape and expression to his creative genius.
Dalila stands out for its sinuous volumes and fluid, archaic forms that define its sculptural presence, making it the protagonist of outdoor dining areas in a dialogue between light and matter. The seat is made of flexible polyurethane foam, covered with a thin coloured elastomeric layer that guarantees comfort and cosiness even in outdoor spaces.
A sophisticated production technique minimises its joints, enhancing the continuity and purity of the design. The colour palette has been carefully selected to blend harmoniously with the Cassina Outdoor Collection.
Regular use of protective covers, available for separate purchase, helps preserve the aesthetic and functional characteristics of the outdoor product.
However, it is recommended to place products intended for outdoor use in controlled environments such as verandas and covered or partially covered terraces, avoiding full exposure to direct sunlight and weather conditions.
