Between 1940 and 1942, Charlotte Perriand was active in Japan, tasked by the former Ministry of Commerce and Industry with defining the new directions and strategies to impart to industrial production in the Land of the Rising Sun. The Vase à fleurs échancré dates back to this creative period that saw the pioneer of modernity engaged in an exchange of views with the Asian artisan tradition and its key players. The vase is made entirely of glass blown in a cast-iron mould and then reworked by hand by skilled artisans. The latter step gives shape to deliberately uneven lines that emphasise the uniqueness of the product. The generous thickness of the rounded border further accentuates the sophisticated tactile nature of the vase. Vase à fleurs échancré is available in three different colour options – transparent, yellow and blue and, exclusively online, in emerald green.
I MAESTRI
Charlotte Perriand full membership of that avant-garde cultural movement which, from the first decades of the twentieth century, brought about a profound change in aesthetic values and gave birth to a truly modern sensitivity towards everyday life. In this context, her specific contribution focuses on interior composition, conceived as creating a new way of living, still today at the heart of contemporary lifestyle.
