Symbol of reflection, introspection and vanity, the mirror is not only a practical device, it is also an object that confronts the individual with a complex comparison between that which appears and that which we feel, between our reflection and how we are perceived by others.
Italian artist Pietro Terzini, known for his audacious works that are an invitation to interact and reflect, presents his first design product in collaboration with Cassina.
Featuring a contemporary aesthetic, the large oval ME FROM OUTSIDE mirror contains three screen-printed messages, in capital letters, that create a direct relationship between the observer and the object itself.
We see what we want to see
The first version, which becomes part of the Cassina Details Collection, bears the phrase “We see what we want to see”, emphasising how perception of the world is shaped by the sensitivities of each individual.
The other two are limited editions, available in 100 pieces for each of these phrases: “I love you” focuses on the topic of love for self, while “Sometimes I lie” is a reminder that appearances often are not a faithful representation of reality and how easily we deceive ourselves when we seek to hide from the truth.
Pietro Terzini’s hand-written signature appears on a plaque attached to the back of the limited edition pieces, further attesting to the artistic focus of the project.
