Comfort to feel and observe. Patricia Urquiola shapes the softness that is Ardys, a sofa that, at first sight, expresses the generosity and airiness of its cushions. Deep stitching designs a geometric pattern across the seats and backrests, reminiscent of Nordic duvets. The materials were carefully selected to lend comfort to the system, and with the aim of reducing its environmental impact.
The padding is made of polyurethane foam containing a percentage of recycled polyols, and has an internal lining in recycled polyester wadding, a choice that confirms Cassina’s focus on the use of innovative, high-performance materials while at the same time ensuring comfort and durability.
Moreover, thanks to the absence of traditional moulding methods, the sofa can be easily disassembled. The contemporary nature of this design is also expressed in its modularity. In addition to the two- and three-seat configurations, Ardys offers a wide range of end, corner and central elements, allowing the creation of personalised compositions.
Given its square matrix, the modules are easily connected via a custom-designed snap-on joint, and can be reconfigured as desired. The low-slung sofa system also includes an armchair and an ottoman and is completed with a family of glossy lacquered concrete coffee tables, available in a freestanding version and also as elements that can be integrated into the system with an upholstered base.
