A design icon, product of the golden age that marked the historic partnership between the great architect and Cassina. The unmistakable design signature of Gio Ponti is alive and well in this chair with powerful, sophisticated lines, product of the desire, shared by the company and the maestro, to experiment with a production model – innovative in the furniture industry – based on a meeting of the minds between designer and company.
The distinctive traits of Principi are its open-pore ash structure and the diamond-shaped cut of the backrest, crafted through fine furniture-making techniques to enhance the comfort of the chair.
The invitation to relax is also strengthened/maximised by the seat cushion upholstered in leather or fabric. The iconic design of this piece is made even more current through four colour options: white, Vermillion red, Sky blue or black, choices based on ceramics also designed by Ponti.
I CONTEMPORANEI
An architect, a designer and an artist, Gio Ponti (Milano 1891-1979) graduated in Milan in 1921 and initially entered into partnership with Emilio Lancia and Mino Fiocchi from 1927 to 1933. In 1927 he founded Il Labirinto with Lancia, Buzzi, Marelli, Venini and Chiesa in order to produce high-quality furniture and objects. From 1923 to 1930 he has been Richard Ginori’s artistic director.
