PRODUCTION YEAR

1938

Designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1938, when she created the office furniture for Jean-Richard Bloch, intellectual, writer, co-director of the Ce Soir newspaper and founder of the French Supervisory Board for antifascist writers. The desk owes its name to its unusual boomerang shape, introduced by Perriand, that has no sharp corners. It seats about 10 people without anyone occupying a central position, thus putting an end to the "presidential" office archetype.
Working closely with Pernette Perriand-Barsac, Cassina re-edits this desk with exquisite new finishes: oak-stained ash, ash stained black, or canaletto walnut with natural finish. The sumptuous, impressively thick wood top, focal point of the piece, can be clad entirely in saddle-hide or with an optional desk mat. The solid wood legs feature harmonious, organic lines, a recurring trait in the works of Perriand.
An updated version equipped with integrated electrification, can be combined with the file cabinet from the 10 Bureau de la Semaine à Paris by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand, adapted in 1930 by Charlotte Perriand.
