PRODUCTION YEAR

1947/2025

Charlotte Perriand designed the “en forme libreconsole in 1939. A perfect example of "équipement de l'habitation" (domestic equipment) – a central concept in all her furniture designs – this piece is also crafted to perform different functions depending on the setting in which it is placed: in the entrance or hallway it offers a support surface for accessories or small objects, between the kitchen and the dining room it can serve as a sideboard (as it was used at the Alpine resort of Les Arcs) or in the bedroom as a dressing table. It can also be used as a writing desk under a window, to balance proportions with the wall; as occurred at its namesake, the Hôtel Doron in Méribel, France (1947).

The console features a contoured top with a distinctly sculptural appearance, supported by a single cylindrical leg and attached to the wall. It is crafted in solid natural Canaletto walnut or in MDF with matte or glossy lacquer finish. Logo and signature with progressive numbering located on the underside of the tabletop.

I MAESTRI

In the sphere of twentieth century furnishing history, the advent of modernity made possible the entrepreneurial audacity of this true reformer of interior design.
