From the 2nd of June to the 30th of September 2022, the Civic Museums of Pavia are hosting the exhibition “IL MONDO DI POGGI - L'officina del design e delle arti” devoted to Roberto Poggi, the woodcraftsman and entrepreneur from Pavia, considered one of the founding fathers of the modern furniture industry.

During the exhibit, the winning project of the competition for architects under 35 "Concorso di Idee per architetti under 35 - Il mondo di Poggi”, an initiative born from the collaboration between Cassina and the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservators of the Province of Pavia, is presented. This contest to design a chair inspired by the philosophy of Franco Albini, who collaborated so much with Poggi, has resulted in its production by Cassina. The chair is part of the exhibition, together with an area featuring a selection of products by Albini from the Cassina I Maestri Collection.

Today, working in close collaboration with the Franco Albini Foundation, Cassina continues the production of the historical pieces designed by the architect, previously produced by Poggi, with the aim of carrying on the memory of the maestro’s work through important research and development, in full respect of the original designs.

The exhibition is presented by the Municipality of Pavia and the Department of Culture, Museums, Events and Territorial Marketing, together with the Order of Architects Planners Landscapers and Conservators of the Province of Pavia, in collaboration with fabbricapoggi, and is curated by Roberto Dulio, Fabio Marino and Stefano Andrea Poli, lecturers at the Milan Polytechnic.
